Respect, rapport and communication – the best tools of engagement

Truth be Told

From the streets of New Zealand to war zones on the other side of the world, one of the key things that our Global Director Sean Buckley has learned is the importance of effective communication, and how imperative rapport-building is in defusing tense situations.

Sean sat down with TRUTH BE TOLD PODCAST host Dave Thompson to talk about how Sean’s career in policing led him to become an international investigator of the most complex – and often dangerous – cases, and how he has since drawn on that experience to help others receive, and deliver, better investigations.

This knowledge inspired him and Jaydene Buckley to found OSACO Group, and more recently, to develop EchoMind, an AI-based platform to helps investigators and interviewers learn and embed effective interviewing techniques and rapport-building skills.

Respect goes a long way in terms of building trust and creating a space for open communication, and rapport is more than “being nice”. In this clip, Sean shares how important it was for him to integrate into the culture and connect with community.
