Sophia Guirguis
About Me
Based in France, Sophia brings 15 years of experience in the private and humanitarian sectors to her work with OSACO.
Sophia has extensive experience in risk management, and an advanced knowledge of the international aid system’s governance, functioning, and challenges.
After obtaining a Master of Science in Business and a degree in Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, Sophia worked for seven years in the private sector in corporate finance, supply chain management, and sales and information systems management.
Sophia then worked in the aid sector coordinating humanitarian operations in countries affected by protracted crises directly linked to armed conflicts, mainly in the Middle East and in the Sahel – in Lebanon, Jordan, Northern Nigeria, and Afghanistan.
From 2019 to 2021, Sophia led the Libya INGO Forum, a network of international NGOs implementing humanitarian programmes.
In recent years, Sophia has developed and strengthened the global humanitarian resources strategies and systems at various humanitarian INGOs’ headquarters, with a focus on safeguarding and risk management, preventing and addressing risks of fraud, corruption,
and SEA in humanitarian operations and has deployed for investigations and trainings for NGOs and UN agencies in Mali, Colombia, Lebanon, Papua New Guinea, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Egypt, Rwanda and Burundi.
Key skills: Sophia’s strong field operations experience gives her an invaluable perspective on humanitarian operations and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a wide variety of locations and settings. Sophia speaks French, English and German.
